A full day focused on healthy aging, wellness and longevity is coming to Oklahoma City on May 14 as VillagesOKC and Concordia Life Plan Community present Wellness for Today. Vitality for Tomorrow.
This special Positive Aging event will take place from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Metro Tech Conference Center, 1900 Springlake Dr. Doors open at 9 a.m. for attendees to enjoy a vendor fair featuring local providers and resources.
Registration is required, and the deadline to register is May 4. Cost is $25 and includes lunch, all sessions and access to the vendor fair. To register, call 405-320-9590 or visit www.villagesokc.org/positiveaging.
Organizers say the event is designed to inspire adults of all ages to take proactive steps toward healthier living through education, movement, nutrition and meaningful community connections. The program combines expert presentations with hands-on activities that participants can apply in their everyday lives.
Headlining the event is Dr. Lauren Powell, a board-certified family medicine physician, wellness advocate and nationally recognized speaker known as The Culinary Doctor. Dr. Powell’s keynote presentation will focus on reframing aging as a season of strength, dignity and possibility. She will also share practical habits that support metabolic health, energy, cognition, resilience and overall well-being.
Following the keynote, attendees will enjoy a healthy lunch beginning at 11 a.m., along with time to visit vendors and connect with fellow guests. The afternoon session will feature an interactive wellness experience with two additional speakers.
Wellness educator Christopher Coleman will lead a chair-based movement session focused on improving posture, circulation, flexibility and breath control. His exercises are designed to be safe, approachable and easy to continue at home.
Darin Leonardson, founder of Transformed Culinary Solutions, will guide participants through a culinary wellness segment that includes a sensory herb experience, hibiscus tea education and a mocktail-style demonstration using hibiscus tea, citrus, ginger and cinnamon.
“Our holistic approach embraces the longevity mindset,” said organizer Julie Davis. “These approaches are innovative and will provide attendees with resources and practical habits to implement at home.”
The event will conclude with audience interaction, meet-the-speaker opportunities and final vendor visits.
